Side Effects of Taking Chantex
As with any drug, side effects are inevitable. In the case of Chantex, the side effects are generally well tolerated.
Some individuals will experience gastrointestinal side effects of which include: nausea, abdominal pain, gas, dyspepsia, vomiting, constipation, acid reflux, and dry mouth. Otherindividuals might experience problems with sleep disorders such as insomnia, abnormal dreams and nightmares. Some of the other side effects are headache, somnolence, and lethargy, fatigue, malaise, and asthenia. It was reported that some people on Chantex might have an increased or decreased appetite and even anorexia. Other side effects involved skin rash and respiratory disorders.
More serious, but less common were life threatening side affects which may or may not require medical attention depending on the severity of symptoms and life threatening nature. Those include, but are not limited to, blood and lymphatic system disorders (anemia), cardiac disorders (chest pain, heart arrhythmia, heart palpitations and rapid heartbeat, stroke, atrial fibrillation, and coronary heart disease), ear disorders (tinnitus, vertigo), thyroid gland disorders, gastrointestinal disorders (diarrhea, gingivitis, gastritis, esophagitis, gastric ulcer), immune systems disorders, metabolism disorder (diabetes), musculoskeletal (back pain, muscle cramps, musculoskeletal pain, arthritis, osteoporosis), nervous system disorders (disturbance in attention, dizziness, amnesia, migraine, restless leg syndrome, tremor), psychiatric disorders (anxety depression, irritability, restlessness, mood swings, agitation, decreased libido). There is a low occurrence of renal and urinary disorders, reproductive disorders (menstrual disorder, erectile dysfunction), vascular disorders (hot flush, hypertension, hypotension), respiratory disorders, and skin disorders (acne, dermatitis, dry skin, eczema, psoriasis).

Chantex can also give very vivid dreams. My friend detailed the side effects of Chantex here: Chantex Stop Smoking
I am on my third week of Chantex. The only negative side effect I have had has been fatigue, but that just started this week. The vivid dreams aren't bad at all. As long as they don't turn into nightmares, I'll be fine.
I quit smoking with Chantex for about a month. I started having some of the side effects and goodled the name and found that I was having more of the psychiatric disorders (anxety depression, irritability, restlessness, mood swings and agitation). I felt that I was all over the place and needed to get off of the drug ASAP and called my Dr.

Matt
I started Chantex two weeks ago tomorrow.
First week ---- Vivid dreams,
even a nightmare or two.....still dreaming more than usual this week....but no longer as vivid and no nightmares.
However....I'm having fatigue....I feel absolutely exhausted..... Hope this passes....Do no like feeling this tired!!!
Also...I am still smoking....but I'm enjoying it less...a lot less...
I'm optimistic!
I finished the fourth week of Chantex and have not refilled the prescription. I was getting more and more fatigued. Also, I started having bad mood swings. I am still a nonsmoker without the Chantex. But I do feel that I would not have quit without it.
My husband started chantex 3 weeks ago, 1st week he started feeling fatigued and insomnia and vivid dreams, 2 wk, still no sleep when he did sleep it was wicked nightmares and extreamly thirsty, 3rd week, still having insomnia, nightmares to the point we can no longer sleep in the same bed, he has lost the feeling in his fingers and face and has started hallucinating. he is drinking in excess of 3 gal of water a day. he has cut the smoking down from 3 pks a day to 1 pack a week but has decided that the side effects are not worth it he is afraid he will kill someone in an accident or something worse.
I started Chantix one week before my quit day.(5 weeks ago) I am always very sensitive with all medications, but just had mild cases of the side effects discribed. After the few weeks on two 1 mg/day pills, I decreased the pills to 1 1mg/day, and am doing just fine. I now miss a day here and there, and am still not interested in smoking, and I am around smokers quite a bit. My husband smokes at the house (outside) and friends when we are together. I would recommend this to anyone, unless of course, maybe they were depressed or unstable to begin with. Then, I believe, doing something 'for' yourself as in walking, exercising, taking on a new hobby or something would help.
My blood pressure has returned to normal, my heart isn't racing as it was before, my voice is no longer dry and raspy, and my new exercise regime has intensified, and become more important to me....hence looking and feeling better, especially knowing that I have used this great program to take better control of my life. I was tired of being 'mastered' by the lethal dried material and chemicals inside a piece of white paper..THAT was taking my life! God Bless You!
I forgot to mention that I have been having some problems with my skin, a few dried patches on my legs and feet, I was attributing that to the nervous tension surrounding our lives out here in California, as I was very close to the fires, and friends lost their homes just 10 miles from me. I will see a dermatologist, but will most likely continue with the medication until they are finished, about one week. It is worth it!
My boss and I both started taking Chantex about 5 weeks ago. We have both experienced very weird and vivid dreams. He has also been extremely bitchy and moody while I am happy as can be. Too bad I am not the boss!! LOL Thanks Chantex!!
I started Chantex the last week in August at the .5 mg. I decided to take the first up coming weekend to see how I can do with out smoking on Labor Day weekend. I can say that I have not had a cig since September 1st. I stayed on the chantex and the side affects lingered on. I had diarrea for the first week. Then I had the constipation in the second week. Stomach problems in the 3rd week. and very tired. So I got off the chantex in October and I am now feeling the side affects that linger on. I now have Vertigo, Depression and fatige. I still do not smoke, but side affects do not go away after you stop. I am sure that is why I am at home with Vertigo and Heart rate is high and my blood pressure is starting to rise, which I have never had high blood pressure.
I hope anyone with blood pressure problems will work with their doctor to stabilize it. I believe alot of symptoms come from the withdrawals from the cigarettes. Be careful not to let that be a reason to stay on them. A health practitioner might be able to help you as well, get you on a nutrition program and some exercise will help. (We have all heard of replacing a bad habit with a good one is the best way to stay strong and keep away from those filthy things!)
i wear hearing aides and after taking CHANTEX i started to feel like someone had turned the volumn down. i reread the info on the product and found that CHANTEX can cause deafness. needless to say i no longer take it. this is a side effect most people wouldn't associate with a stop smoking pill. read the info carefully, you may find the causes of problems you are having may be a side effect of the drug.
I stop smoking on chantex I do have crazy dreams I do get angry I feel suicidal but it is better than smoking I just hope I don't kill someone cause if I go to prison I will smoke again thank you have a nice freakin day bitch

I was doing well for the first 2 months, but now at 3 months, I realized that my Anger levels have increased and I have almost no tolerance for perceived dumb actions.
I get angry at my father for driving in fourth gear rather than fifth. I just had a major fight with my X - whom I've worked closely with over the last 23 years. I just kicked my daughter out of my home due to her little games.
Maybe I am justified for all this, but I have not been this way before.
Recognize the anger as being intolerant and watch out for increased desire to fist fight dumb people! I have become very secluded so I can finish this stuff.
It has made quitting a simple step!
I think they should add a smidgen of relaxer with the drug. I hope the anger goes away so I can patch things up with loved ones.
Great not to have an ungodly desire for cigarettes.
Well, I am not a doctor, but I might say that you may not even need the Chantex any more. If you feel that angry, and you are not smoking, and you are 'done' with smoking, then just be done! Also, maybe the emotional withdrawal from the cigs has something to do with it your anger! I started exercising again (it had been 10 years), started a few weeks before I went on the Chantex, and so it helped in the transition to not smoking, then my workouts became not just more intense, but more enjoyable. I only needed to stay on the meds for 6 weeks. By the way, also into an unexpected divorce, and am still not smoking. I don't want to anymore! But, the exercise is what is 'saving me' at this point. I hope you are feeling better by now...and don't forget....replace that terrible nasty habit with a new hobby, or exercise, fresh air, new friends, etc. YOU CAN DO IT!!
On my second week still smoking but not as much as before. I thought that I was getting sick nope it appears to be side affects really not sure if that is a good thing or bad. I am happy that my 5-7 at a time is like 1-3 a day if that. There is hope for the next week am tired which for me is ok since I have insomnia, so am sleeping more now. Good luck to all that stick with it. I say that I'm not quitting smoking I am regaining my health.
Has anyone out there felt like they have gained weight while taking Chantex?
I don't know where to begin...
Week 1- I felt pretty normal, the only thing different was the my stomach was a little upset.
Week 2- (no cigarette) my stomach hurt more, the head aches began, my dreams were crazy (but good!) and I couldn't stay asleep which meant the next day I was very tired.
Week 3- My stomach and head aches! I felt as if my head was going to explode and if I moved I would vomit. And I was very short tempered, snapping at my husband and mom. So I cut my dosage back down to 1 pill a day, in the morning. My dreams have gotten a lot worse.
Week 4- I started to see things that are not there. One example, I actually thought that someone was in my bedroom. All the other hallucinations have been minor; I thought there was a fly in the bathroom, I seen the sealing fan on, etc. But my stomach & head aches are still strong & I have been extremely insensitive to the ones I love dearly!
Week 5- I stopped taking Chantex. I can not deal with the physical and emotional pain. I am still very nasty and I start crying all the time (I am crying now) but do not confuse this with depression. I do not feel depressed, I am frustrated. I am dizzy (not all the time), the front of my head feels like there is a little hammer in there banging, I'm tired b/c my dreams have become wicked and I'm scared to sleep. But No Cigarettes!!!
To anyone considering Chantex, please read about ALL the side effects and share them with your loved ones (they can tell you if you are acting different). If at anytime you feel strange cut your dosage in half & then stop taking it. I am happy that I am not smoking but I hope I start to feel normal again... soon!
All drugs have side effects. So does smoking, I haven't heard of any one that died from taking Chantex. I smoked for 25 years, started taking Chantex in Sept. 2007 and took for 4 months. I had wierd dreams, trouble sleeping found both not as bad if took pill earlier. I was very moody and little things that normaly would not bother me really got me mad. My family put up with it because they really wanted me to stop smoking and it was working great for that stoped smoking 1st week. I have been of pill for a month and still not smoking. Keep going and have a strong support system.

i chewed, not smoked, and i official made it to today, am a 1weeker, and overall feel great. i was chewing about a can a day. my biggest fear was at night. i have suffered from night terrors since a child through turning 31. my fiancee knows this, so i didnt tell her i was going to take it, shes a nurse and knows this neg side effect. i can honestly say this last week has been the best night sleep i have had since jr. high. my dr. shoots me strait, hes on my hockey team, and said if someone has pre existing mental issues they are going to struggle. in 2008 i dont know many ppl w/o issues, and the redhead fiancee is still alive, but other than being set off very quickly at work and have very little threshold for argument ... its a miracle ... truely. good luck.
I started taking Chantex about 2 months ago, it helped me cut down by half of what I use to smoke, I also went to looking like an average person to looking like a skeleton from developing a gastric problem that I can't retain potassium, I have swelling in my legs and feet constantly. I got a call from my doctor after having routine bloodwork, and it was a mess, my heartrate was way down. I have been put on potassium pills to live, because you need pottasium for your heart and major organs, and I have to spend money on nutrion drinks to take with the pill. I have gone to the hospital once with pains in my chest and numbness in my left arm. I also was told by an RN a new report came out that Chantex can cause a spontanious brain hemoriage. I'm still taking it, but I'm weening off, I'm going back to smoking more. I think I would rather smoke, I think I would probably live a little longer because I was near death about a month ago and my body looked like a shriveld up old lady and I'm only 39 and had a nice curvey body. I have put back on ten pounds as of today and I feel alot better. So, vidid dreams, nightmares, or a little mood swing is a very minor side affect to this drug. IT LOOKS LIKE THIS SITE ONLY POSTS THE HAPPY ENDINGS!...................If you can quit any other way,DO IT!
I can say proudly I am so far a success story of Chantex. What worked for me was to ignore all the side effects... even though at times very tough to do ....but I kept thinking I can do it!!!!! And it was not easy .....I was a psycho BITCH!!!
I am smoke free for 4 months now.
Sure I had every side effect but I also had a great support system of family & friends & coworkers who put up with me these past few months of my crazy moods & withdrawal symptoms. They knew it was either a side effect of Chantex or smoking withdraw. I never took the full dosage of 2 pills a day with the Chantex so maybe that's why I didn't experience some of the extreme life threading side effects I keep hearing about with Chantex. Or maybe because I ignored all the side effect looking at the bigger picture of not to smoke. Overall Chantex was the wonder drug for me but may not be for everybody.
Now if I can only get my mate to want to quit.
Yes....can you believe that I quite smoking when temptation was right out side smoking it up. Sure I was & still am a nag every time he lights up & when the smoke aroma is following him around. But now I am learning to be around smokers & am not temped to light up again. So far so good & I know I will never smoke again!!!!
And I tell myself that everyday. I still do miss my smokes from time to time. BUT.....
I know I will be successful because I am letting my stubbornness finally do some good & win out over addiction!
What also helped was that I calculated that when I was smoking I was spending around $2,000.00 a year for smokes.... and this was on the cheep non brand name cigarettes.
Now I am saving that money to by a new laptop & to whiten my teeth.
So those out there who are still trying to quit find your method... your support... whatever it takes to quit......its one thing you will never will regret.
Ok, I posted a comment in February about all my side effects and how I was still feeling. I am SOOO happy to announce that I am totally back to normal and now smoke free for 4 months!! I gained around 10lbs so I started jogging. And opened a savings account and have the money transfered that I would have used to buy cigarettes. I wish everyone luck!!!
PS I love this smoke free lifestyle!
I am on my 2nd week of taking Chantex, and the side effects are getting worse. First, I started have strange dreams that quickly turned into nightmares. Then I started having severe headaches and blurry vision. At the same time I became more irritable and I cry for no reason. I haven't been sleeping because of the nightmares and headaches, and I am extremely shaky all the time. I can't think and I can't concentrate. I feel like my head is in a million pieces! Should I stop taking the Chantex, or should I just ignore the side effects and keep taking it?

For all of you out there that have experienced depression, fatigue, suicidal thoughts, etc. do you really think it is worth it? Personally I would rather take the chance of going outside for ten minutes and having a cigarette than taking something that may leave me with brain abnormalities. Sorry, but haven't you ever stopped to think that pissing of the ones we love and possibly hurting ourselves is only going to make life worse not only for ourselves but also for the ones we love. If you want to quit that badly, you will find a way; try hypnotism-i've heard that works well with no side effects, as a smoker myself that has tried Chantex; it's not worth the side effects. For those of you may have ADD/ADHD, Depression, or any other psychiatric diagnosis DO NOT TAKE or even try Chantex combines with anti-depressants or any drug prescribed for ADD....the results are uncanny!!!!
If you are a smoker and have ever attempted to quit smoking then you may be aware of the difficulties that are faced once you have quit. There is no denying the fact that quitting can be tough, but the task can be made easier by the use of effective medications such as Chantix . http://www.chantixhome.com/
i just finished my third week of chantix. first week nothing different. second week, bitchy, constipated, and so bloated i was always uncomfortable. third week, at the beginning-ate constantly, nausated, and bipolar!i thought i was pregnate!(thank God the test was negative!) i went through every emotion imaginable before i had to be at work in the morning.an it lasted all day. ive never been so flip floppy. and beware when something pissed me off-which was easy to do. i become the devil! i feel so sorry for my family. however, i am smoking less. and i hope to quite by thanksgiving. and i think the unstable moods will be worth it if i can quit and stay smoke free. i just hope the mood swings go away. if not im going to need some crazy medicine next!

I have been using Chantex for 1 month and I have not had any side effects at all. I have tried everything out there on the market to help me wuit wmoking and nothing came close. I take 1 pill a day adn it works for me. I am so thankful for the drug. Hopefully I will only need to go as far as the starter kit.
Good luck to everyone out there trying to quit. I know it is not easy! I love being a nonsmoker. :) Susan
Has anyones taste buds changed for the worse?
I took Chantex for 2 weeks and my side effects took hold at the beginning of week 2. I was constipated, bloated and miserable to the point I felt I'd explode. I'm asthmatic and was smoking less but using my inhaler a LOT more due to the respriatory side effects. Also when I do smoke I DO NOT ENJOY IT! It just simply takes the edge off and I noticed if I tried to smoke like usual 2 pks a day, I'd get sick as a dog. The drug did not affect my sleep, however I was tired the whole time. I stopped taking it temporarily due to the acid reflux and gastrointestinal problems. I work in a small office and there's no worse feeling that horrible horrible gas 24/7 while on this medicine.

I am on my 2nd week of not smoking..dreams have actually been fun very vivid. The one side effect is lower back pain on my right side kind of a burning pain its been persistent for 4 days now. Getting worried that I may have to drop taking the pills. I have been taking 600mg of Ibuprofen but it only numbs the pain maybe 50%. If anyone also has this symptom please contact me at adpowell200@yahoo.com would like to know what you did about it. After 25 years of smoking I really want these pills to work.
Hello Angie, I thought I was literally going nuts and the only one how had these side effects. I just started weaning myself off 3rd day how long until ur side effects went away? Ive had the same side effects as you
I stopped using Chantix 8 years ago and am still suffering from side effects! I was a perfectly healthy, happy 25 year old when I started the meds. I had to stop taking Chantix because of depression and I all of a sudden developed an autoimmune disease. A type of arthritis (at 25 Years Old) that there is no cure for. I regret starting to smoke in the first place, but, I really regret using Chantix!! My life will never be easy or pain free again.
I started taking chat ex 3 days ago, my side effects are, insomnia, asthenia, malaise, fatigue, lethargy, somnolence, nausea, headaches, dizziness, blurry vision, light headed and vivid dreams as soon as I close my eyes to go to sleep, and I go urinate a lot more than usual, I don't during enough to go to the bathroom that many times in the day and at night. I have had 3 cigarettes in the last 3 days, coming down from almost a pack a day ( 8 to 12 a day ). After reading all the comments Im thinking about stop taking chantex after 1 week, I take 2 1mg a day, morning and evening. GreT thing is, my mood has not changed........yet......and no suicidal thoughts or seeing things........yet. I might or might not stay on this pill, if I do I will post an update.
I started using the medication, the first week of full dose I wad becoming slightly iratable, then I blew up abnormally at my wife, threw some dishes on the floor and yelled, the entire thing felt like a dream, I ended up with a domestic violence ticket, lost my hi me health care job, ended up homeless, with a no contact order. Ever since the second week off the drug I can't stop thinking of my wife and suicide, I am going insane and it has been since July 13 since I quit taking the stuff. I am coping, as suicide is not a viable option for me, but going threw a divorce and crap is horrible for a side effect of a drug. I have never been violent, as I am a pasafist and can not afford a lawyer.
